Omid is the Digital Communications Officer at the Institute for Gender and the Economy (GATE). In this role, Omid is responsible for the planning, development, standardization, content generation, and analysis of GATE’s web, print, and social media environments to enhance GATE’s public reach and reputation. He also advises the leadership team on strategic approaches to communications, marketing, and branding to further GATE’s mission and increase impact among its stakeholders.
Omid is a marketing and communications specialist with a background in developing advocacy and awareness campaigns for the labour movement as well as non-profit organizations. Prior to joining the Institute for Gender and the Economy, he served as the Director of Communications for Pflag Canada, a national charitable organization dedicated to offering peer-to-peer support for those who are struggling with issues of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
Passionate about driving equity and diversity forward, including LGBTQ2S initiatives, Omid is proud to currently serve as the Chair of Strategic Development for It Gets Better Canada.
