At the Institute for Gender and the Economy (GATE), we worked tirelessly throughout 2018 to change the conversation on gender equality by:

  • Funding, translating and disseminating innovative, academic research
  • Investigating the hidden mechanisms that propagate gender inequality
  • Engaging executives, policymakers, and students to create new solutions for achieving equality, advancing careers, and creating economic prosperity

This year was marked by several high-profile media appearances in outlets such as Maclean’s, The Globe and Mail, and the BBC; a testimony by Director Sarah Kaplan before the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance regarding Bill C-86; 17 panels, lectures, and events with over 1,800 attendees, such as our 200+ conference on behavioural approaches to diversity with 21 experts and industry leaders; and two diversity and inclusion competitions with over 120 MBA students.

We invite you to explore our past year through this interactive report.
